Welcome creative friends to The Card Concept Challenge: Autumn Bounty!
I was inspired by the hydrangeas and attempted to mimic the muted colors, but I got a bit carried away with the blues in my Mixed Media card! I began with Altenew's Paint-A-Flower Hydrangea Stamp Set:
I stamped the floral image onto Ranger's Inkssential Water Color Paper (smooth size) with Versamark Ink, a sticky clear ink, and sprinkled Ranger's Princess Gold Embossing power over it and heat set.
Next, I stamped this same image onto Gina K's Masking Magic and fussy cut out the entire image. This piece was adhered over the gold embossed image so I could stamp a background over it, but not on the floral image itelf. I used Scrapbook.com's Hybrid Ink Camel and a Simon Says Stamp Grid Background stamp I have in my stash. I felt it gave the card something in the background, but left a lot of white, which I prefer.
Once dry, I was ready to watercolor. I basically used Paperbag and Mountain Mist from Altenew's 36 Half Pan Watercolor set and also a little bit of Frayed Leaf and Citrus Burst. I wet the area with clean water first and then drop in the color.
When it was dry, I put the card front in my Splat Box and tapped on watered down Mountain Mist with my paint brush for a little somethin-somethin in the background. Of course, mine looks nothing like this picture. Mine is well loved!
The card was finished with a Happy Birthday sentiment from Concord & 9th Happy Day Stamp Set (I believed retired) gold heat embossed with the same Ranger Princess Gold onto Licorice Black card stock. I used one of my Avery Elle Simply Sentiments die to cut it out - an all time favorite die set of mine! Cuts perfectly which for some reason I can't do by hand nor on a cutter.
The sentiment was popped up with foam tape. The edges were cut with a stitching die I have in my stash and all adhered to a Neenah 100lb Classic Crest A2 size card base. A few gold metallic pearls from my Stampin' Up! days, finished the card.

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
