Taylored Expressions January Challenge #1

Taylored Expressions is one of my all time favorite stamp companies for their innovation and complete line of all stamping and crafting products. I plan to show many more of their great products in the future.

Their Facebook group, Fans of Taylored Expressions has a published monthly challenge for all of 2020. This is great so you can plan ahead if you participate in challenges!
For this card, I used masking and grey:
I can't say enough about TE's line of 6" X 6" masking stencils. They have ovals, squares, circles, rectangles, hearts and hexagons. For this card I used the squares. You have the positives and negatives to use with 2 different sizes. I used the small square piece (bottom left) for this card.
I adhered the square mask to my 4" X 5 1/4" Neenah 80 lb. white card base with a tiny bit of repositional adhesive. Then using my Wendy Vecchi Make art Stay-tion, I could easily hold down TE's Topsy Turvy stencil over it and ink blend 2 grays from Scrapbook.com's Hybrid line of ink with their foam ink blending tools. All of these tools make life so easy and your work comes out clean with no finger smudges.

I know it's hard to see the white square that was masked off, since I pretty much covered it up with Mr. & Mrs. Grumpling! They were stamped with Scrapbook.com Black Hybrid Ink onto Bristol Smooth Paper and water colored with my Zig Real Color Brush Markers. I used a silver gel pen too. I do have the matching die cuts to cut the images perfectly. Finally they were popped up with Scrapbook.com's round adhesives.
Funny, funny sentiment stamped onto the A2 sized card base made from WPlus9 Dove Grey card stock.

The Card Concept #126 Jan. 2020 - Wedding Card

Welcome to my first design team post for The Card Concept for 2020! It's so fun to be on a DT and come up with a card for each challenge. This picture was so inspiring I could have made many cards, but I wanted to keep with a wedding theme. I kept with a "Classy & Elegant" style:

   Definition:
  • polished
  • shiny finish
  • sparkling embellishments
  • rich color scheme
  • sophisticated sentiments
  • regal
  • sweeping
  • dramatic
  • monochromatic
  • layered textures
  • awe
  • impress

Here is the inspiration picture:
Most of the inspiration came from the clocks, the glitz, the silver noisemaker in the back and lastly, the pearls.

I started with Tsukineko Delicata 4 pack of colors that I had in my stash. I used the gold and silver colors with the Scrapbook.com's Foam Blending Tool with Tim Holtz' Stamper Anonymous Layering Stencil, Clockworks, on Neenah Classic Crest White card stock. I cut this piece with the largest Jillian Vance's Basic Rectangle Backdrop die. It leaves a beautiful clean indent about 1/4" in from all the edges. I love the look of it.
The wine glasses (MFT's Wine Service Die-namics) and chain (free gift from Jillian Vance, but linked similar item below) were cut from silver metallic card stock. They were glued flat with liquid adhesive and a few pearls were added for bubbles.

The outside sentiment is from Brutus Monroe's Sharon's Script.  This set has many elegant sentiments for various occasions.
The inside sentiment is from Taylored Expression's, The Inside Scoop - Wedding. Perfect sentiments for the inside of a wedding card.
I cut and scored a piece of WPlus9, Dove Grey card stock into a side fold A2 card. I just love this card stock! Not only the color, but the weight is just perfect to score without cracking, yet strong enough to be a base. Definitely have to keep this in my stash.

Taylored Expressions Grumplings for Color Throwdown #574

Hello friends! Today's post is my card for this week's Color Throwdown with red, brown and white. I decided to use Taylored Expressions' Mr. & Mrs. Grumplings stamp and die set. Really fun and unique sentiments for wedding cards. Of course, you have to be a certain type of person to like these sentiments.

This is a fairly flat card, only the images are popped up. I started with Neenah Classic Crest 110 lb. card stock and cut out a heart shape (random die from my stash) out of Gina K Masking Magic. The allows me to place the mask right in the center of the A2 panel. I used the Wendy Vecchi's Make Art Station and held Simon Hurley's Backsplash stencil with the magnets included with the Art Station. So helpful, it's like having an extra hand! I used Simon Hurley's Grrr! ink and Scrapbook.com's ink blending tools and ink blended over the masked heart. Darkest in the inside fading out to light.
It's fun to pull the mask off and see the white space underneath! This Gina K Masking Magic cut and held beautifully. I stamped a sentiment from Mr. & Mrs. Grumplings on the front in Scrapbook.com's Dark Chocolate Hybrid Ink.
The Grumpling images were stamped on Bristol Smooth paper with Scrapbook.com's Black Hybrid Ink. I used my Kuretake Zigs to color a neutral brown and red. I cut out the images with the coordinating die cuts. They were added to the heart space with Scrapbook'com's double-sided round adhesives.
The inside sentiments is so funny! Just hope the recipient finds it funny, too!

Waffle Flower Garden Dec. 19 with Wedding Day

Happy Holidays friends! Just a quick post for my submittal to Waffle Flower's Facebook Fan Group for Dec. 2019 "Anything Goes"!
I have been asked by a local bridal shop to make some wedding/engagement cards for their shop. We plan to meet after Christmas where I'll have samples to show. The little set from Waffle Flower is so darling. A Clean and Simple design was all it needed.
I tried a new paper for the watercolored images. It is Vicki Boutin's American Crafts Mixed media paper called "All The Good Things Collection - Foundation Paper". It comes in a 12 X 12 pack of 12. I cut a piece into 4 - 6" X 6" pieces and stamped images all over each piece. I used Scrapbook.com's Black Hybrid Ink. With that ink I can watercolor or use alcohol markers depending on my whim. I have to say I really liked this paper. It held up well to water and for watercoloring images, I didn't experience bleeding outside the lines. It is a little bit ivory, but I was OK with that. Scrapbook.com is having a 10% sale right now, too! Code: SANTA10 - but it ends midnight Dec. 25th!
The other papers I used was Neenah Solar White 80lb. for the heart cut out and the embossing Wedding Ring background. Hard to see in the pictures, but a nice, soft detail for the card background. The heart die cut was one I had in my stash with stitched lines, so I liked that additional detail, too. I ink blended with The Stamp Market blending tool using Worn Lipstick Distress Ink. Those blending tools can't be beat when you want a soft look.

The die cut "happy" was from my stash. A free gift years ago from Papertrey Ink and I really like the font. I cut it twice from white card stock and once from silver glitter card stock. The embellishments are the gorgeous Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear gems.
Simple inside sentiment, church and dove all from Waffle Flower's Wedding Day Combo set.
Another new card stock I tried was W Plus 9 Dove Grey. It is a 100 lb. weight card stock and I love it! It scores more easily, doesn't crack when folded and yet is strong enough for a card base. The Dove Grey is such a beautiful soft color which gives a nice tone on tone look.

Thank you Waffle Flower for hosting the challenge and again, I wish you very happy holidays!

Welcome to my blog post for CAS Stencil challenge for March 2019 - Ghosting:
I happened to just watch a You Tube video  by Jennifer McQuire called "Silhouette Stamping". I have to give credit to Jennifer for the inspiration for this card.

I stamped with Memento Black ink the beach chair and drink image from the "Colorful Season" stamp set. I also stamped the book from the "Bike Ride" set. I filled in the image with the Basic Black Stampin' Write marker. Once dry, I stamped the images with Versamark and used Clear Embossing power to set it.

Next, I taped horizontally about a 2" section on Whisper White Thick card stock with Post-It tape. I ink blended Berry Burst, Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight again horizontally with Stampin' Sponges.
I made my own stencil with the waves from the Lakeside Framelit using some discontinued card stock.
I dabbed with water through the lines onto the ink blended area of the cards to create wave like lines. I tried a baby wipe, but that didn't work as well as water. This is the "Ghosting" technique to meet the challenge.
The sentiment is from the "Beautiful Bouquet" set and the card would work for many different occasions. The dotted line underneath is from, new to me, "Swirly Frames" set. Looking forward to playing more with that set.
I hope you enjoyed this Clean and Simple card and if you would like to purchase any of the items shown here, please click on the images below. Thanks for sticking to the end!
