Sending Prayers

Happy September, friends and welcome to The Beautiful Blossoms Challenge for the 15th. Here is the gorgeous inspiration photo from which I chose my colors for this Sympathy Card:
I started with Ranger's Distress Ink in Mustard Seed, Lost Shadow and Spiced Marmalade and ink blended on an A2 sized panel of Ranger's Distress Watercolor Card Stock. I flicked lots of water for those lovely splatters.
The flowers are from Gina K. Designs' All Occasion Flowers and stamped with MFT Stamps Blue Beyond.
Really a quick and easy card that is so useful to have on hand.  Thank you for stopping by and please enter this month in our challenge!

Watercolored Sympathy Cards

Hi friends! Today I am sharing a couple of Sympathy Cards I made with some NBUS:

I like to keep a few Sympathy cards on hand and try to keep them fairly generic. To create these 2 cards I  used 2 watercolored panels made with Arteza Expert Watercolor Paper and Kuretake Gansai Tambi Solid Watercolors. I blended them light to dark from top to bottom, wet on wet technique. Here is a previous blog I wrote which explains a bit more detail:
Since I planned to stamp and use clear embossing powder on the watercolored panels I tested them to make sure they were totally dry. To do that you simply sprinkle embossing powder on the panels and see if it sticks. If it does, it is not dry yet. You could use your heat tool to dry it, but I always prefer air drying. For me, I usually paint panels and leave them for a couple of days before I use them.
Mine were dry, so I was ready to stamp my Impression Obsession Stamp, Forest Trees (my NBUS), with Altenew Obsidian Black Ink. Sprinkled right away with Nuvo Clear Embossing Powder while the black ink is still wet and heat set.
The sentiments are from Taylored Expressions Simple Strips - Sympathy and cut with the coordinating Simple Strips Die. I used WOW Super Fine White Embossing Powder because of the details in the stamp. With these Simple Strips, you stamp all the sentiments at once and cut them out at one time. The squares on the sides  are lined up, a bit of washi tape to hold it and run through your die cutting machine. They come out perfectly! I store them in my Taylored Expression Simple Storage unit with the labels on the side. I have all the different versions of the Simple Strips and it makes for quick and easy work!

The storage box has 2 levels so it holds a lot of labels. I love having them ready to use!
Here is a picture of the label sheets you can buy to add to your Simple Storage Units:
Here is the second card I made:
They are a bit wonky, for they are red rubber and I didn't use my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig Positioner. Next time I will. I figured the trees are blowing in the wind!
The inside sentiments are from a Paper Smooches Stamp Set called Sympathy Sampler. Paper Smooches is no longer in business, but the stamp set is still available at Amazon. I left that cards at that. No splatter, no water drops, no bling. I want them a bit somber to match the occasion.

Thanks for joining me today and thanks to NBUS for hosting the challenge to use our "Schtuff"!

MFT Superstar 2020 Coloring Virtuoso

Welcome to my 2nd card for the 2020 Card Design Superstar Challenge by My Favorite Things. This challenge is for the Coloring Virtuoso.

I've has this MFT stamp set in my stash for a while: Fresh Cut Flowers Background. I knew I needed a few sympathy cards so I thought this image would be perfect.
I stamped the image onto Ranger's Inkssential Watercolor paper with Altenew's Obsidian Black Ink, sprinkled Nuvo's Clear Embossing Powder over it and heat set. I water colored it with Altenew's 24 pan set and Derwent Inktense Watercolor Pencils. While it was drying, I stamped the image again onto Gina K. Masking Paper and fussy cut. I laid the mask over the colored imaged and stamped a background over the entire picture with MFT's Romantic Script Background stamp with Scrapbook.com Tan #2 Hybrid Ink (Camel):
This created a nice soft background against the bright floral image.
The sentiment comes from MFT's More Essential Sentiments:
Such a pretty card. I used my retired MFT Blueprints 15 stitched die to finish the edges.
I made a second card in purples. All the same except the edges were created with MFT's retired Stitched DOME STAX die.
I always remember the purple lovers!
Thanks for joining me today! There are some amazing coloring virtuoso out there and many of them joined this challenge. The judges have their work cut out for them. Thank you MFT!

Sympathy Card for CAS Mix Up & Inspire.Create Challenges

Today I am entering this card for 2 challenges. The first is for Inspire.Create Challenge #51 with a theme of "Sympathy":
The second challenge is CAS (Clean and Simple) Mix Up Card Challenge for "Inchies":
Inchies are tiny squares which can be created & decorated in a number of ways.
I went with a very CAS design. Crumb Cake card stock with one stamped, embossed image from the Rooted in Nature stamp set. Since I was creating a sympathy card, I didn't want a lot of extra background images on the card. I wanted to keep it to a more masculine style.
I first cut a 3" X 3" piece of Crumb Cake card stock and layered it with another piece of white card stock the same size. This gave the stability I believed it needed. Using my Stamparatus with White Craft Ink, I stamped the tree image  a good couple of times. After cleaning off the stamp, I used Versamark and stamped it again a couple of times in the same exact spot. I sprinkled with White Stampin' Emboss Powder and heat set with the #2 setting of our Heat Tool.

I cut a piece of Basic Black card stock 3 1/2" X 3 1/2". Next, I cut the Crumb Cake 3" X 3" piece into 1" rows and then again into 1" pieces. I lined them up onto the black card stock and put a Stampin' Dimensional behind each one to pop them up a bit.
The sentiment was white heat embossed onto Basic Black card stock using a sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings. It was then cut into a small strip and glued to the front. The whole Inchie piece was then layered onto a piece of Whisper White card stock which was textured with the 3D Subtle Embossing folder. Finally layered onto a Whisper White Thick card base in a square shape.

For embellishment, I just wrapped Lined Thread around 3 times and added a copper Leaves Trinket with Tombow Liquid Adhesive.
The inside was a beautiful sentiment from the Woven Heirlooms set. All very clean and simple.

Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you enjoyed the Inchie card even though it was made for a somber occasion.
