PBSC Reminder June 2023

Time for a reminder to join in Penny Blacks' Saturday Challenge - Masculine or Anything Goes! It's not too late!
This is my 3rd card as Guest Designer for June 2023! I used all the same products, but in several different ways.
For this card I used the Textural Creative Die to make a complete background. The Immense Enjoyment Die and the cutie from the Friendship Stamp are the same as in my previous blog post here.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you Enjoy The Little Things!
Also thank you to the team at The Penny Black Saturday Challenge for inviting me to be Guest Designer...always fun!

Sympathy Card for CAS Mix Up & Inspire.Create Challenges

Today I am entering this card for 2 challenges. The first is for Inspire.Create Challenge #51 with a theme of "Sympathy":
The second challenge is CAS (Clean and Simple) Mix Up Card Challenge for "Inchies":
Inchies are tiny squares which can be created & decorated in a number of ways.
I went with a very CAS design. Crumb Cake card stock with one stamped, embossed image from the Rooted in Nature stamp set. Since I was creating a sympathy card, I didn't want a lot of extra background images on the card. I wanted to keep it to a more masculine style.
I first cut a 3" X 3" piece of Crumb Cake card stock and layered it with another piece of white card stock the same size. This gave the stability I believed it needed. Using my Stamparatus with White Craft Ink, I stamped the tree image  a good couple of times. After cleaning off the stamp, I used Versamark and stamped it again a couple of times in the same exact spot. I sprinkled with White Stampin' Emboss Powder and heat set with the #2 setting of our Heat Tool.

I cut a piece of Basic Black card stock 3 1/2" X 3 1/2". Next, I cut the Crumb Cake 3" X 3" piece into 1" rows and then again into 1" pieces. I lined them up onto the black card stock and put a Stampin' Dimensional behind each one to pop them up a bit.
The sentiment was white heat embossed onto Basic Black card stock using a sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings. It was then cut into a small strip and glued to the front. The whole Inchie piece was then layered onto a piece of Whisper White card stock which was textured with the 3D Subtle Embossing folder. Finally layered onto a Whisper White Thick card base in a square shape.

For embellishment, I just wrapped Lined Thread around 3 times and added a copper Leaves Trinket with Tombow Liquid Adhesive.
The inside was a beautiful sentiment from the Woven Heirlooms set. All very clean and simple.

Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you enjoyed the Inchie card even though it was made for a somber occasion.

CAS Stencil Challenge May 2019

If you read my last blog post, you know that my daughter, Kristin, asked me to make her 3 thank you cards. A masculine one, a beach type card and a bright and cheerful. That blog was my bright and cheerful:
Now for the CAS Stencil challenge for May, I made the masculine thank you card. The challenge is to stencil over a colored background.

I started with Shimmery White Stampin' Up! paper. It helps with ink blending and has a nice subtle twinkle. Using Stampin' Sponges cut into 6ths, Pool party was the first color I laid down in a soft circular motion about 3/4 of the way down an A2 size card front.  Next, came Bermuda Bay done the same way, but not as far down the card.  Lastly, Pacific Point was ink blended just towards the top 1/3 of the card front.
I made my own stencil by running the leaves stencil from the Tropical Thinlits through the Big Shot with retired card stock. Using the homemade stencil over the ink blended card panel, I ink blended Pacific Point basically towards the top only. This was new technique for me, ink blending with the same color that was in the base. It really came out striking in real life. Very rich in color.
Next, I ran the panel through the Big Shot with one of the Layering Square Framelits. I centered it on a Whisper White panel that was also run through the Big Shot with a Rectangle Stitched Framelit. Once I knew where I wanted it, I stamped the dotted frame from the Swirly Frames both on the top and bottom of the area. The stencilled square was popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals and placed between the dotted lines.
The sentiment is from A Big Thank You stamp set. I placed the word "Thanks" on the Stamparatus so that I could stamp over it several times to get a nice rich color with Pacific Point ink. While wet, I immediately sprinkled with Clear Emboss powder and heat set -a beautiful Pacific Point embossed sentiment! The front panel was adhered to an A2 size card base of Bermuda Bay card stock with Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

This technique was really fun and easy. I'll have to try it again soon! Check out the CAS Challenges. They have links on videos on how-to do the challenge technique and there is so much to learn!
