Stampers for Others Stampin' Up! Team and HSSCC315

Hi friends! A quick blog tonight to meet 2 challenges: one for my Stampin' Up! Demo Team (SFO) (Private Facebook Group) and one for Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge:
Here is the challenge from my SFO: "Last weekly challenge for May!!! for this weekly challenge we are not going to have a sketch... this week from May 26-June 1, we are going to do a NO CARD project... this can be anything BUT a card!!!"
I decided to create a couple of bookmarks with my new to me Botanical Bliss Bundle. I used Shimmery White paper for the bookmark on the left with the rose top and Watercolor Paper for the one of the right with the birds. The same 3 challenge colors were used for both with a wet-on-wet technique using Stampin' refills. Once dry, I cut into 2" strips and ran them through the Big Shot with the Botanical Bliss Thinlits.
To mount this bookmark, a piece of Whisper White Thick card stock was cut about an inch larger and the top was put through the Big Shot with a Stitched Layering Circle which created a stitched arched top. Just the bottom of the watercolor piece was run through the Big Shot with a Layering Stitched Square so that it has a nice stitched edge. A hole was created with the Detailed Trio Punch.
For the rose, a piece of Whisper White Thick card stock was cut a little larger than the colored piece. I ran the white card stock through the Big Shot again with the Rose Botanical Bliss Thinlit. The bottom of the colored piece was die cut with a Layering Square Scallop Shape for that nice ripple effect.
They were both finished with heat embossing: White Stampin' Emboss Powder and Artfully Aware stamp set sentiment for the rose and Memento Black Ink with Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder for the word "Friend" from the Botanical Bliss stamp set for the bird.
Well, I thought I was done once I glued them together with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. But, I had washed my hands and dribbled a large blob water onto the rose card under the sentiment. It really stood out like a sore thumb! Trying to figure what to do, I found the butterfly punched form the Butterfly Duet Punch just out of Whisper White card stock was perfect! What's the old saying...something about mistakes being the chance for embellishments?!
Which paper do you prefer? I like the watercolor paper because I left more white showing and the ink didn't blend quite as much as the Shimmery White paper. But I do love the sparkle on the Shimmery White bookmark.

NC Demos May 2019 Blog Hop

Welcome to this month's blog hop for the North Carolina Stampin' Up! Demonstators. Stampin' Up!'s annual catalog from 2018-2019 will retire June 3rd and the new catalog ordering period starts June 4, 2019.
For this month's blog hop, we were given this challenge:
"May is a happy and sad month as a SU demo. We are all happy that the new catty will be out soon, but we are also a little sad to see some of our favorite products retire. So, this month we will be saying a fond farewell to our favorite retiring products from the Annual and Occasions Catalogs."

Sheet Music background stamp set has been one of my favorite to use this year and I wanted to highlight what a cool stamp this is. The Large Alphabet Framelits are also retiring and I've used this set all year long for multiple cards. Here is a blog post from February highlighting this stamp and Framelits using different colors and letters but similar to today's:
For today's hop I made several cards. For some of the cards, I stamped the full Sheet Music stamp with Versmark Ink onto Whisper White cards stock. Next I sprinkled with White Emboss Powder and heat set. To ink blend (bottom to top) I used my much used Stampin' Sponges (cut into 6ths) with Lemon Lime Twist (retiring), Mango Melody, Real Red and Cherry Cobbler. The more you use and ink these sponges, the better they work.
The shaker card "YAY" was done with this technique, but instead of a full sheet of card stock as shown above, I masked off a 2" stripe and then completed it the same way ink blending from right to left. Using the letters from the Large Alphabet Framelits I cut out "YAY" in my Big Shot.
To complete the shaker card, the Foam Adhesive Strips are just perfect for they are higher and therefore you don't have to double-up tape like other brands. I used the Iridescent Sequin Assortment for the shaker bits. They have such a nice sparkle! A little tip is to run your Embossing Buddy on the inside of the adhesive before adding the shaker elements. It helps to prevent sticking to the sides.
I used the die cut letters to make this card, too. A nice frame was cut with 2 of the Rectangle Stitched Framelits from the ink blending panel.
The black & white polka dot is a retired paper from this year's Sale-A-Bration, but easily replaced with your own handmade stamped background or another DSP.
Nothing went to waste today. I made 3 more cards with some retiring products (the butterflies are not retiring) from bits and pieces on my desk:

Here are all 5 cards made for the hop all using Sheet Music:
