Kylie's Demonstrator Training Blog Hop May 2019

Has it been a month already since Kylie's April Blog Hop? It is amazing how fast time goes by. Speaking of time, Stampin' Up!'s annual catalog from 2018-2019 is coming to an end on June 3, 2019. Today's card features the floral image (shown in the right hand bottom corner)
stamp from Timeless Textures, a retiring set. There's still time to purchase retiring items!

My inspiration came from Shari Carroll's card shown in the Online Card Class "Stretch Your Stamps 2". Shari used a full background stamp, but I was able to recreate a similar look with repeat stamping and embossing.

I began with a full sheet of Shimmery White card stock which is a good choice for watercoloring techniques. I stamped the floral image multiple times (one row at a time) with Versamark ink and sprinkled with White Stampin' Emboss Powder. When the full sheet was complete I hit it with Stampin' Up!'s heat tool using the second setting.
Once cooled, I taped the sheet to an acrylic board with yellow painter's tape (from Lowe's). To "ink smoosh" I pulled out 4 plastic packaging envelopes I saved from various purchases. Never throw these out for they are perfect for many techniques including today's ink smooshing. I pressed the entire ink pad down onto the plastic packaging and then gave it a quick spray with a Stampin' Spritzer filled with water.
I pressed each sheet (bend sheet and only press parts), one at a time, to the card stock taped on the board to place random color throughout. If you want the color to blend more, just spritz a little water directly to the card stock or more water on the plastic sheet. Either way, stop when you are happy with the color and let dry completely.

I leave mine taped down at least overnight. Once I remove it, I keep it under under books or blocks to flatten.
Now we're ready to start the card. I cut multiple square tiles with a small square from the Layering Square Framelits and the Big Shot. I also cut the same number of squares out of Fun Foam (Amazon or your local craft store). These were attached them to the back of the tiles with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. This way the card will lie nice and flat when mailed.

The background is a piece of Whisper White Thick card stock which was run through a Rectangle Stitched Framelit and then a Subtle Texture Embossing Folder and the Big Shot, just for a little texture. Each tile was glued into placed with Tombow in a grid pattern. The sentiment is from the Well Written Framelit set. 3 layers were die cut through the Big Shot. 2 in Whisper White and 1 in Soft Suede used as a drop shadow on the bottom.

The sentiment is attached to a circle cut from the Layering Circle Framelits and then run through the Swirls and Curls Embossing Folder using the Big Shot.

Since I made a full sheet of the background paper, I made several cards. Here is one more card using a full background:
