Beautiful Blossoms July 2023

Hello Hello my friends! July in North Carolina is really heating up and it's almost better to stay inside and just enjoy the views outside.
We are ready for a new challenge at The Beautiful Blossoms Challenge and I was inspired by the flamingo! Here is the mood board - remember flowers are to be the focal point.
I started with Sizzix's Tim Holtz Colorize Thinlit called Gladys. Isn't she sweet and a little sassy with the watercolored flower (from Sizzix's Thankful Bicycle by Jen Long) covering her center! She was fun to put together and not too many fiddily bits.
The background (My Favorite Things Roses All Over 6" X 6" red rubber background stamp now discontinued) was stamped on Ranger Ink's Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Card Stock for I thought I was going to watercolor the background. Once I put Gladys on the background of roses I decided I just liked the black and white.
The sentiments are from a retired Paper Smooches set called New Beginnings 2. It is one of my favorites.
Here you can see the watercoloring of the rose. I always use Altenew's Obsidian Black Pigment Ink with a clear embossing power for a nice black line.
I made 2 Gladys', but one has no flowers so this is not part of the challenge. Just thought I show a different version of our sweet girl.
The sentiments come from My Favorite Things Tickled Pink Sentiment set, now retired. Too bad, for it has lots of great sentiments for a flamingo!
I am also submitting to NBUS, for I have not used Gladys or the Tickled Pink Sentiments before.

Thanks for joining and we look forward to seeing what beautiful blossoms you can create!

Happy Little Stampers July 2023

Happy July friends! Time for a new Happy Little Stampers Stencil Challenge. This one came together so quickly!
I started by creating the stencilled background - Picnic Checkerboard by Spellbinders. I love this stencil and used my brand new Atomic Fresh Dye Ink Mini Cubes from Altenew - Crimson and Blush. I like these new inks - very juicy and saturated.
I just ink blended the stencil around the outside area and left the center alone, so I would have a landing zone for my image. This cutie is from the Colorado Craft Company - Anita Jeram Tea Time Fun Stamps and coordinating dies. Who doesn't love a mouse dunking her cookie into hot tea?
She was created by stamping onto Ranger Ink's Tim Holtz Watercolor Paper with my absolute favorite, deep dark black ink, Altenew's Obsidian Black Pigment Ink. While it is still wet, I just sprinkle with Altenew's Crisp Clear Embossing Powder and heat set. I actually stamped all the images in this set and watercolored all of them. If you follow me, you know I watercolor at lunchtime at work, and really get a lot done!
The sentiment is from another Anita Jeram set called Wishing You Happiness again stamped with the Obsidian Black Ink - I use it for everything! And today is a lovely day for happiness...thanks for stopping by and come play along with us this month...we'd love to see you.

Paper Funday June 2023

Welcome to July 2023 Paper Funday Challenge! I kept thinking of red, white and blue for this month and I choose a image from SheepSki Designs which I thought would work perfectly. They are one of our generous sponsors this month and please check out all their amazing designs on their Etsy Shop HERE. My digital image is called Mini Vases - Image No. 264.
As always I start by cut and pasting the image in Microsoft Word (Insert - Pictures) with narrow margins. I usually create at least 2 different sizes and for these vases I had 3 on one page and 2 larger images on another.
I printed both pages onto Ranger Ink's Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Paper on the rough side through my laser printer, since I knew I would be water coloring. I used the Daniel Smith 238 Dot Watercolor Cards and Altenew's Artist's 24 Pan Watercolor Set. My favorite brush which I use for everything is the Size 8 of  Silver Brushes - Black Velvet.
All of the backgrounds just came from my stash. If you're like me once you start playing with a stencil or stamp, you can't stop and end up with lots of backgrounds. They really come in handy to make quick cards!
And here we are back to my main card. Love the blues created with Distress Inks.
Thank you for visiting my blog and come play along at The Paper Funday Challenges. Give watercoloring on a digital image a try, post on our challenge...very fun!
