Welcome friends to my blog post for Kylie Bertucci's September Blog Hop. We are Stampin' Up! demonstrators in her training Facebook group. No theme for the hop, just current Stampin' Up! products.
I've been coloring the Birds of a Feather stamp set that is in the Holiday catalog. I was drawn to this set because 1) I love to color, so I look for stamps with open areas that can be colored and 2) this set can be used for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine's Day! Always look for the little stamps in a set too. Notice the stars below-they could be heat embossed and ink blended for a cool background, or stamped and colored in, or heat embossed with the new sparkle embossing powder...little stamps as so versatile!
For this card, I was inspired by a challenge for the Sugar Pea Mix Up Challenge #59.
I went with the layout only, modified a bit, and was happy with the result!
I used a piece of our 6 X 6 Designer Series Paper in the Regal color family - Pumpkin Pie.
For those who are not familiar with Stampin' Up!'s color families - there are 4 main groupings of color that will all coordinate with each other. Each color family has paper, ink, ribbon, markers, and embellishments to match. Here are the colors of ink pads for the Regal family:
All beautiful jewel tones and perfect for an Halloween card.
To color our little pirate duck, I used various colors of Stampin' Up!'s alcohol markers called Stampin' Blends. They come in a combo set of 2 with a light and a dark of the same color or also you can buy them separately. I colored with a sketchy hand to try and create a feeling of feathers. Once the little outfits were colored, I used a silver gel pen to add polka dots for a little more texture. I fussy cut our pirate with Stampin' Up! paper snips which are perfect for detail cutting.
The card itself went together quickly. I added a strip of Basic Black card stock and Gold Foil sheet to the edge of the Designer Series Paper all cut at an angle.
I stamped the circle image from the Swirly Frames Stamp Set using the Stamparatus on Whisper White Thick card stock. This is a great set for backgrounds when you just need a little something more.
The circle was then cut with a large Layering Circle die. I stamp the sentiment with Memento Black Ink using an acrylic block. The circle and pirate were popped up with various Stampin' dimensionals.
I used Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels in the yellow color to add a little bling to the card. Hard to pick up on camera, but the self-adhesive jewels add such a nice twinkle!
The inside was a simple word" "Enjoy" from the Country Home stamp set.
All in all, a clean and simple Halloween card! Fun to send to anyone!
This is a blog hop with many, many amazing card designers. Please continue on with the hop. Here are all the makers:

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
