Hi all - This week I wanted to try a new challenge group called "What Will You Stamp" (WWYS) who posted their 200th challenge! This is a weekly challenge based on a particular Stampin' Up! stamp set and I just happened to have it. Since I also wanted to continue on with the Colour Inkspiration Facebook challenges - I combined the two into one...fun!
I often enjoy using the secondary stamps in a set. For the Merry Christmas to All set I choose the swirl design to use as a focal point. I stamped the design twice on thick Whisper White card stock with Versamark ink and used gold embossing powder to heat set. I did the same with the butterflies from the Painted Glass stamp set. Always give your heat embossing a few moments to cool down.
Once cooled, I then watercolored with Tranquil Tide, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral and Blushing Bride re-inkers with a wet-on-wet technique. Since they are small stamps and not a lot of water was required, I was able to use thick Whisper White card stock instead of watercolor paper. Lastly, I using the Big Shot and the coordinating thinlits, I cut out the butterflies.
To give a shadow behind the butterflies, I ink-blended Calypso Coral using the negatives from the butterfly die cuts as a stencil. The Stampin' Sponges cut into wedges make the most perfect ink blending tool and are very inexpensive.
Finally, I finished the inside with a beautiful sentiment from the Merry Christmas to All set, stamped in Tranquil Tide, and adhered one of the butterflies in the corner.
I hope you find some inspiration and remember to look at all your stamp sets in a different way. A Christmas set may have stamps that can easily be used all year round. The "accessory" stamps in the set can make beautiful backgrounds, too!
If you would like to purchase any Stampin' Up! products that I used today, please click on the links below to go directly to my on-line store.
Thanks for sticking to the end!

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
