Hi friends and yes, I make Christmas cards all year 'round, especially when I get an idea in my head and have to create it! Today's blog is part of my May 2022 Guest Designer series for A Colorful Life Designs, a small business in Dallas, Texas owned and operated by Mary Kay de la Fuente.
Today's stencil is called Rattan. Here is the image from Mary Kay's website:
To start I cut a piece of Hero Hues Premium Dove White 100 lb. Cardstock which I trimmed to 4" X 5 1/4" with Tim Holtz's Deckle Edge Trimmer.
I applied some Brutus Monroe Glitter Glaze called Emerald through the Rattan Stencil with a palette knife and let it dry overnight. For interest, I didn't want the glaze to be solid but left it sketchy on the sides of the stencil design.
I have this Avery Elle stamp and die set called Nutcrackers which I thought would make a perfect image to go along with this stencil. I stamped, colored (with alcohol markers) and die cut all the images and choose the image with the red hat to contrast against the green background.
I thought the nuts from the stamp set were the perfect embellishment for this card. It's not exactly a Clean and Simple card, but this is my version of a CAS Christmas Card!
I kept with the "Nuts" theme for both the outside and inside sentiment. Added one more nut to the inside:
I love this card for the mixed media feel and the playful images. If you haven't had a chance, please click this link and visit A Colorful Life Designs shop. Let support women owned small business and also "Made in the USA"!
I will be submitting to the following challenges:
Colors: Red, Green & Brown
Thank you for stopping by!

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
