Hi friends...welcome to my post showcasing my challenge card for both Color Throwdown and Freshly Made Sketches:
The colors for the challenge were yellow, grey and white and the lay out a simple layered rectangle. I thought I would try my hand at no-line water coloring which is the rage right now. I stamped the floral image of the collaborative stamp between Hero Arts and Gina K. Designs call Friendship Blooms using Antique Linen Distress Ink:
I used a #8 Silver Black Velvet water coloring brush and Altenew's 36 half pan set to color the image. This brush has a nice sharp point and holds a good amount of water. I used Warm Sunshine, Fresh Lemon and a bit of Sunkissed for the flowers.
I stamped the floral image onto masking paper and fussy cut it out. I laid the mask over the dry water colored image and set the piece on my Wendy Vecchi's Make Art Station. For the background I used a Scrapbook.com stencil called "Little Boxes." It is a 6" X 8" stencil so it easily covers the whole front image. Gently I ink blended Altenew's Gray Denim over the whole background.
To finish the card I cut the background with my Jillian Vance's Basic Rectangle die and also created a small border with the same set and a piece of ombre gray in Altenew's Rock Collection 6" X 6" paper. The sympathy set is from Honey Bee "With Sympathy" stamp set and Honey Cut die set. The final embellishments are from Trinity Stamps called "Cave Crystals":
They are a beautiful flat iridescent finish.
The inside is from My Favorite Things "Deepest Sympathy" set. This set has such wonderful sentiments for a sympathy card. Sometimes it is hard to know just the right words to use.
Thanks for sticking to the end and I hope you are all safe and don't need this type of card anytime soon!

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.
