Welcome to my blog post for the March 2019 Clean and Simple (CAS) Christmas card challenge - Deer! It is also the CAS Christmas Card Challenge blog first birthday! Congratulations!
One of my favorite dies is the running deer from Stampin' Up!'s Detailed Deer Thinlits. There are 3 different deer dies in this set and I have found them to be a staple in my stash. I wanted to use the "Sheet Music" background stamp to make my own paper. Using the Stamparatus and Memento Black Ink I stamped on Whisper White card stock and die cut the deer at an angle. I also die cut the same image 3 more time from Basic Black card stock and with Tombow liquid adhesive layered them together. It make a very sturdy piece.
The background is a piece of Whisper White card stock die cut with the Rectangle Stitched Framelit. Lemon Lime Twist and a little Coastal Cabana was ink blended in a circular motion with Stampin' Sponges in an angle from left to right. Finally, I splattered both the background and the deer with watered down Frost White ink. Simply place a dab of ink close to the edge of an acrylic block and with a paint brush, add water, and flick off the side onto the card. I use a large box to be sure the splatters stay confined.
Since this is a CAS card, I left a lot of white space and no additional "bells & whistles". A simple black sentiment in the corner from the "Christmas Pines" sets finished both the front and the inside.
I did glue the front panel to fun foam purchased from Amazon. It gives a nice flat, clean raised layer which will go through the mail beautifully.
I hope you've enjoyed this card and are inspired to try it. Think about all the different background colors that would be perfect with a simple black & white image - reds, blues, yellows, pale oranges - all perfect for Christmas!
Thanks for sticking to the end and if you would like to purchase any of these items, just click on the pictures below to go directly to my online Stampin' Up! store 24/7!

I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.

Anita, I love your running deer, so pretty die cut out of the stamped music background. Great idea for mass production of cards, I'll have to keep this one in mind. Thanks for joining us at CAS Christmas :)
