I am starting to play along with the CAS Mix Up Card Challenge and this is my January 2019 submittal. They are monthly challenges with a specific "mix up". This month is:
The definition of "bokeh" was listed on the challenge blog along with links to You Tube videos to see some fun techniques to create the look:
bo·keh bōˈkā
noun
noun bokeh
In thinking about what I wanted to create for the challenge, I saw this picture on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to try an re-create with the Tea Together Stamp set now available in the 2019 Occasions catalog:
I stamped the tea pot and cup in Memento Black Ink and colored with Stamp 'n Blends alcohol markers on Whisper White Thick card stock. Using masking paper I created a path for the "tea" to pour from into the cup. The background was ink blended with Pineapple Punch and Berry Burst using sponges. The bokeh effect was created with an ink dauber, Whisper White Craft Ink and a stencil cut from window sheet using the Bottles & Bubbles Framelit circles.
Picture isn't too attractive, but this is the stencil I used.
Added a simple strip of Basic Black card stock with a perfect white heat embossed sentiment and finished with a few Gingham Gala adhesive-backed sequins.
Tried one more card with more of a "real" tea color, but I wasn't as happy with it:
Challenges are a fun way to stretch your imagination!

Welcome
I am a wife of 48 years married to my best friend, Mike. He has always been my biggest supporter. We have 3 beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful grandchildren. Also, I am a college graduate, still working full time, and trying to squeeze in every crafting moment possible. Working with my hands, whether it is papercrafting, stamping, painting, cross-stitching, zentangling or quilting - brings joy to my life. I love color in all its various forms.

ReplyDeleteYour cards are so creative, unique and fun. I Love how you did the Bokeh effect and the colours you used and then did the teapot and cup in the green tones, whilst letting the technique take centre stage.
